Cvent Inc., a leading cloud-based enterprise event management platform, were organising an inaugural event in London for over 450 event planners. ‘Cvent Connect’ consisted of two days of key speakers and breakout sessions as well as an ‘Innovation Pavilion’ where the guests could view and test Cvent’s technology.
Metro Ecosse, a creative and technical event production company, were brought in to supply the audio visual for the Shaw Theatre where the conferences would be taking place, as well as constructing the pavilion. Within this project, Cvent were looking for a large screen for the theatre to be used as a presentation platform.
Metro Ecosse knew that for a conference that strived for innovation, they needed a product that worked cohesively with the theme. The two-day event included 30+ sessions from 5 key note speakers, all including a mix of videos and PowerPoint presentations. They needed a screen that could be custom built and was big enough to be seen by the whole theatre, as well as producing a beautiful image for the variety of content being showcased.
Due to the screen being mounted on to a pre-built stage in a purpose-built auditorium, they needed a product that was lightweight but could still produce a large screen, without any weight restrictions. Due to the number of videos being used, the product also needed to have a high refresh rate.
The content used picture-in-picture to create branded borders framing a 16:9 ratio presentation screen.
Cvent knew they wanted LED because of the impact that it can produce. Having worked together on multiple LED jobs in the past, Metro Ecosse got in touch with PSCo, trade only rental partner, to look at a rental of their narrow pixel pitch LED.
WHAT WE DID
PSCo worked with Metro Ecosse to find the best product for the project. Due to the weight restrictions, they knew it needed to be light and easy to handle.
The final solution was 84 panels of the Absen M2.9, 2.9mm LED built into a whopping 6m x 3.5m wall. The panels weigh only 7.6kg and boast an easy to handle design, making it the ideal product for the job. With a refresh rate of ≥ 3,840 Hz, the display could produce stunning image quality without the risk of ghosting or tearing.
With a tiny 2.9mm pixel pitch, the M2.9 could achieve more detail for the picture-in-picture canvas compared to larger pixel pitch products.
PSCo provided full technical support for the M2.9, including the install, de-rig and show support throughout the entire show.
Sarah-Jane Friedman, Business Development Executive at Metro Ecosse, commented on the project: “I knew the great service and support that PSCo provide would be invaluable for this event. With an audience full of event professionals, the impact of the LED and seamless event production was of the utmost importance. The lightweight panels and high refresh rate delivered this in abundance. The client was delighted with the end result and the overall look for their keynote sessions. We’ll be happy to work with PSCo again on future projects.”
