What you need to know post-ISE

Another year, another ISE done and dusted, and what a show it was. For us it really was one to remember, our three leading LED vendors launched some of the most exciting products on the market, including the latest in LED rental, and brand new front service products. We were also very proud of our parent group, Midwich, who hit a hat-trick and achieved their third “Distributor of the Year” award win at the InAVation awards!

There was a buzz of excitement in the halls this year, with a record breaking 73,000 visitors and more floor space occupied than ever before.

This year Absen really went the extra mile, with two massive product launches! Their latest rental LED product, The M2.9, wowed visitors, set up in a stunning 4m x 2.5m curved wall. It really showed off why it was the most anticipated 2mm for the live events industry. With the highest contrast ratio on the market, the rich vibrant colours and deep blacks produced a stunning picture quality. However, what really sets this product apart from any other product on the rental market, is how quick and easy it is to set up, which Absen demonstrated with a unique ‘hands on area’ for customers to see for themselves.  The innovative ‘1 action’, patented push and pull lock system means that it only takes 3 seconds to mount and lock, making it the fastest and easiest product to install on the market. The 500mm x 500mm panels also have a magnetic connection, making sure there is precision alignment when installing. Lastly, the super lightweight, 7.6kg panels can produce a new level of creativity, with the ability to swap between a flat and curved wall without the needs for any additional tools. Walls with the 2.9mm can create a concave (-5deg) or convex (+5deg) curve.

This wasn’t the only exciting launch on the Absen stand however, the new HDV series produced a show stopping large display that showcased the stunning high resolution it can achieve with a sub 2mm pixel pitch. The 1.6mm product was set up in a 2400 x 1350 HD display to demonstrate the stunning high image quality, high brightness and vibrant colours it can achieve in a board room application. The super thin LED is only 65mm and is fully front install and service, meaning no rear access is required throughout the product lifecycle, minimising install depth and simplifying mounting solutions. The HDV has an offboard power system, lowering the power consumption, heat output and reducing weight and depth, making it super reliable for 24/7 usage. This cable free product meets the needs for the corporate market perfectly, as well as aligning itself as the ideal solution for command and control or mission critical applications.

Absen were also showcasing the award winning N series! At last year’s InAVation awards the N2, 2.4mm LED won Large Format Display / Video Wall product of the year, and it’s no surprise with superb features, including front install and service, slim depth and super lightweight at only 5kg! The stunning product was showcased again this year with the launch of the 3mm and 5mm. Last year, the N series was PSCo and Absen’s biggest seller, with installations in high profile projects such as Nestles London Headquarters.

Steve Halliday, Business Development Manager for Absen, said: “The show has been great for us this year! We had a great mix of products on show across all display verticals, from corporate and retail to rental and a new outdoor LED section. We wanted to make sure all display verticals were demonstrated, and we think we managed that.

“We have had great comments about the stand and our design this year, and we were a finalist in the ISE stand design competition. What really made us stand out this year was our unique hands on area, where visitors could mount and dismount a variation of products, including the innovative M2.9.”

In 2016 we launched Leyard as our third exclusive LED manufacturer and we were honoured that this year we could stand beside Leyard at ISE. The array of LED products being showcased really demonstrated their ability to produce high quality, ultra-narrow pixel pitch products. Leyard have been the first manufacturer to break the 1mm barrier, and each one of their product launches was as innovative as the next.

Building on the massive success of the first DirectLight series, Leyard launched their second generation series, the ultra-narrow pixel pitch 0.9, 1.2, 1.5 and 1.8mm range. This is the first LED product to offer true front install and service below 1mm pixel pitch. Drawing on Planar's expertise and experience in off board power for the video wall market, DirectLight has a unique offboard power system architecture, which helps lower power consumption, heat output, reduce weight, depth and making it super reliable for 24/7 use with options for redundancy. The full range was cleverly set up on the Leyard stand at ISE, positioning each pixel pitch side by side allowing you to compare the range of pixels available.  The built in mounting system means that the product only requires 10cm of depth.

The launch also included the advanced TWA series. Following the success of the TW series, Leyard have developed the product to create the first 54” flat panel design which provides the familiarity and versatility of an LCD video wall, but with improved image quality, uniformity and producing a truly seamless image.  The 1.2mm panels were used to create a stunning 4K 4.8m X 2.7m wall that caught the attention of passer-bys.

Lastly, the TWS series – an innovative 27” 16:9 ration panel that is a quarter of the size of the TWA range. The smaller form factor can achieve full native HD, 4K and 8K resolutions, and offers more design flexibility as it can easily fit into existing spaces and offer a smooth surface for curved screen applications. The TWS range fills the gap in the sister TWA range, offering a 1.5mm product which was used to produce a stunning 6m x 1.69m wall at ISE.

Leyard’s ultra-narrow pixel pitch products produce high image quality that is perfect for corporate applications where high resolution and pristine detail is needed.

When speaking to PSCo, Marco Bruines, CEO of Leyard Europe, said: “We are proud to showcase our high quality LED and LCD portfolio of Leyard and Planar products to the European AV community,”. “For Leyard and Planar, 2017 will be a year of expansion in the EMEA region with an increase in sales and marketing focus, together with our customer service organization.”

Last, but definitely not least, Samsung. They kept everything very hush-hush prior to the show, and now we see why. The latest launch from Samsung is a really exciting one that definitely needed the entrance into the market that ISE provided. We were honoured that while out at ISE we could sign a deal with Samsung to remain their exclusive distributor, meaning you can only get the ultra-narrow pixel pitch range through PSCo.

Samsung did not disappoint in terms of their stand design. Having an entire hall to themselves allowed you to feel completely immersed in all things Samsung– the perfect place for state-of—art technology launches! As soon as you reached the Samsung zone, everyone was talking about the massive 5.76m x 3.24m LED wall that greeted you as you walked in, creating a buzz about the latest launch to Samsung portfolio – the brand new IF series.

The IF series has been designed with installation in mind! The modular LED video wall has a slim form factor, with only 65mm of depth and requires only 35mm ventilation at the rear, meaning the total install depth is only 10cm!

This is Samsung’s first front install and service product, with a unique design that has an easy to service magnetic LED module and fast swap power and data electronics, all from the front of the display!  But the best thing about this product is the truly unique, industry first, advanced dynamic peaking technology. Samsung have drawn on their experience with market leading LED local dimming LCD practices. By applying this expertise to driving direct lit LED pixels, this exciting innovation enables Samsung to dynamically enhance the peak brightness of video content whilst further enhancing black levels and image contrast. In simple terms images are brighter with deeper blacks and more detail. The IF Series can take their 800nit calibrated brightness display, and deliver double this to a 1600nits peak brightness, delivering industry leading HDR video. This sets a new standard in the LED display industry.

The Samsung 1.5mm pixel was used to create an eye-catching display that stopped viewers in their tracks as they entered the Samsung hall. The new IF series is also available in 2mm and 2.5mm pixel pitches.

Samsung also set up their new IS015F 1.5mm LED, the updated edition of the IL series, in a boardroom application so you can see the stunning resolution it produced at a reduced viewing distance.
