Another year, another ISE done and dusted – and what a show it was.
My personal highlight from this year has to be seeing how much our industry has grown. The sheer volume of people who attend the show impressed me.
Every year I feel like I run out of time to see everyone and everything that I wanted to, and that’s purely because the show just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
ISE 2017 really demonstrated how big the AV industry has become. Looking back at where the first show was in Geneva 13 years ago, and seeing the level of stand designs and volume of exhibitors on show this year solidifies that we really are part of a thriving industry.
This year was a great show for us and we had some amazing product launches. My show highlight has to be the volume of LED displayed and the level of enthusiasm in this product category. We saw industry-leading developments in the electronic system architecture, market-leading advances in design and pixel pitch barriers broken.
The influx of Narrow Pixel Pitches (NPP) on show this year was impressive, and it was fantastic to see Leyard launching its 0.9mm, with the tiny 0.7mm teasing the industry. Samsung launched an industry first – its advanced dynamic peaking technology. The display giant has drawn on its experience with LCD practices and applied this to driving directly-lit LED pixels, enhancing the peak brightness of video content.
This latest development is ground-breaking as it just shows that LED is forever developing in new ways to produce an even better product.
With the LED industry growing so much, you have to make sure you stand out. Last year, 34% of all video wall products sold were NPP LED. As the industry expands, how do you stand out in an ever-growing market at a show like ISE?
You need to have the wow factor! Something that makes your product the ‘must have’ display. Absen definitely achieved that this year with a range of stunning product launches. The brand new HDV has a unique cable free, honeycomb cellular design that positions itself unlike any other product on the market. Every year LED delivers a slimmer cabinet, and this front install product is no different, at only 65mm!
With so many outstanding launches and developments this year, I can’t wait to see where the LED market takes us in 2017, and where we will be at ISE 2018.
