Our ISE 2018 round-up

Who can believe that ISE 2018 has already been and gone? With over 80,000 visitors, and 1,200 exhibitors, it’s no wonder they added on an additional hall this year – bringing it up to 15 in total!

The PSCo team packed their bags and flew out to Amsterdam, excited to see what the show held for us. With a new vendor this year, we couldn’t wait to see what all four of our leading manufacturers had in store for us – and they did not disappoint. We saw some of the most exciting product launches available to the market, including the latest LED for rental and fixed installations, and some show stopping laser projection.

Let me walk you through the innovative products on show this year:

We were honoured to be partnered with Leyard at ISE 2018. The array of LED products being showcased really demonstrated their ability to produce high quality, ultra-narrow pixel pitch products.

Last year we saw them break the 1mm barrier, producing a 0.9mm product, and this year – they were at it again. Leyard revealed their brand new 0.7mm pixel pitch product that sits within their leading DirectLight 2 series. This incredible display showcased stunning and pristine detail, breaking grounds as the industry’s smallest pixel pitch product.

Leyard 29

Following the success of their existing ranges, Leyard launched two brand new product ranges at ISE this year. Firstly, the TVF series. Available in 1.5, 1.8 and 2.5mm it is a 27” display with front service accessibility- offering outstanding image quality for full HD and 4K resolutions.

Leyard 8

Next up is their brand new VersaLight series. This line of versatile LED displays can turn even the most challenging of environments into dramatic inspirational video walls. It offers a self-contained modular structure for ultra-reliable performance, and is available in a range of pixel pitches both for indoor and outdoor applications.

We also saw on their stand a range of Carbon Light arc – the perfect indoor or outdoor solution that can produce a stunning curve for ultimate design creativity.

Leyard showcased an array of leading products, and this also included their new MultiTouch product which we saw at Technology Exposed last year. This 32-point simultaneous interactive display is the first interactive display on the market. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to see how this product works – you can see our sneak peak at this amazing product's capabilities below.

Next up, Samsung, who used ISE to reveal their latest range of narrow pixel pitch LED to the market. They had kept pretty quiet pre-ISE, and now we see why. The latest launches from Samsung had everyone talking! On show was the 2mm and 1.5mm from the existing market leading IF series (which also includes a 2.5mm). They introduced a 1.2mm to the range, that was installed in the entrance to the Samsung hall. Available later this year, the product showcased a beautiful image with high contrast and resolution, at a tiny pixel pitch, producing a seamless, uninterrupted image.

They also expanded the series to fit in with the creativity of the retail market, which included 4mm LED set up in a concave and convex curved wall, an ‘L’ shaped edge product mounted on to the reception desk, and an amazing ceiling mounted display.

Samsung 18

However, there was a true show stopper on the Samsung stand. Once you had pushed your way through the excitable crowd that stood in front of the new display, you could see why it was the talk of the show! Introducing Samsung’s brand new MicroLED, a 0.8mm pixel pitch product otherwise known as “The Wall”. Following its launch at CES earlier this year, it made its European debut at ISE and had everybody mesmerised by the beautiful image it produced. We are excited to see this product coming to market later in the year and can’t wait to tell you even more about it!

Samsung 8

This year Absen went above and beyond, with two brand new technology launches across four new product ranges!

We’re excited to introduce to you their brand-new Chip-on-board with Nanosheild technology. COBALT is the next generation of LED technology, where the LED chips are directly encapsulated onto the PCB using Chip-on-Board Advanced Light Technology. Perfect for the rental market, this product has up to 50% lower pixel failure, wider viewing angles and ultimate seam blending. This product was set up at ISE in a beautiful 30sqm 4K wall and will be joining the PSCo rental fleet very soon!

Absen 60

Also on their stand was the brand new High Brightness Black range which utilises Common Cathode technology, a powerful solution for driving high resolution black LED at ultra-high brightness. You could see the 3.9mm hung above the stand in a 4.5m by 2.5m wall.

Absen 13

Following the success of the award winning M2.9, 2.9mm LED, Absen showcased the M2.9 Pro using 256 panels to circle the top of the stand, with their brand-new edge units.

Lastly, Absen showcased their revolutionary Acclaim series in a show stopping 6.1m x 3.4m ultra HD wall. This product boasts a 27.5” chassis for creativity and familiarity with video wall users.

Last year we became the exclusive UK distributor for Epson’s range of laser projectors, so we were excited to see what they were showcasing this year. Epson really went the extra mile with a stunning showcase of projectors, including two very exciting new product launches. Epson revealed their brand new EB-L12000, the industry's first 12,000-lumen native 4K 3LCD projector, and the EB-L20000U, a 20,000 lumen WUXGA laser projector. Both products have a light, compact design that makes them perfect for live events and large venue applications. They are both also compatible with the same 4K lenses already included in Epson’s EB-L1000 series, meaning that you don’t require any additional lenses. Epson used their short throw lenses, ELPLU04 for the 20k and the ELPLX02 for the 12k, to showcase stunning content in high resolution, high brightness and stunning detail.

Epson were also showcasing the EB-L1755U, 15,000lm projector which launched last year

The biggest wow factor on the Epson stand this year was the curved masterpiece that used projection mapping and edge blending imagery from 6x EB-L25000U projectors to show off their stunning capabilities. Visitors were stopped in their pace as they passed this amazing piece of creativity!
